CREDIT: PINAL CENTRALCASA GRANDE, ARIZONA — Over the past few months, Casa Grande city officials have mentioned negotiations with large companies about potential projects coming to the region.
One of those, previously referred to as “Project Buckshot,” has reached a point where it can be announced publicly. Late Friday afternoon, the city sent out a notice that it had reached a preliminary agreement with the kitchen-and-bath giant Kohler Co. on a 1-million-square-foot manufacturing facility that would be built within the city’s industrial corridor.
City officials said they were thrilled about the prospect but also noted that it was still early in the process.
“We’re excited for them to come to town,” said Casa Grande Mayor Craig McFarland. “This will be the first step toward making that happen.”
The location of the facility would be just south of Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway, on the other side of the road from the Frito-Lay plant.
Once construction begins, Kohler expects it will take 18 months to complete. The site will employ 425 within five years, the company said. A Greater Phoenix Economic Council study projects a $1.1 billion economic output from the facility, including $13.8 million directly to the city of Casa Grande.
