A High IT Celebration in Honor of Susan “Suz” Claassen

Tucson, AZ (October 16, 2024) –In conjunction with the 53rd season launch, Invisible Theatre will host a special HIGH-ITea event on October 20, 2024, to honor outgoing Managing Artistic Director Susan Claassen for her extraordinary contributions over the past decades. Susan “Suz” Claassen has been a cornerstone of Invisible Theatre, guiding it with remarkable dedication and creativity.

The event will take place on Sunday, October 20th, at the JCC Ballroom from 3:30 to 6:30 pm and feature two courses, Savory and sweet small bites, and tributes and performances by Tucson’s top talents in celebration of her remarkable career. They will include Armen Dirtadian, Jeff Haskell, Daniel “Sly” Slipetsky, Khris Dodge, Pete Swan, Scott Black, Betsy Kruse Craig, Stuart Moulton, Charlie Hall, Katherine Byrnes, Crystal Stark, Joe Bourne, Heather Hardy, Ann Talman and Amanda McBroom.

NEWS ON SUZ

 Suz announced her “evolution” this summer after 50 years as The Invisible Theatre’s Managing Artistic Director, she’s been busier than ever. She directed IT’s closing production THRILLER OF THE YEAR. In March, Suz received an Arizona Legislative Proclamation and, in May, was the recipient of The Women’s Foundation of Arizona “Daring Generations” Award.  She appeared as Guest Conductor of the amazing Tucson Pops thanks to Maestro Khris Dodge and Katherine Byrnes who performed as she directed “No Business like Show Business.”  In June, Suz took her award-winning production A CONVERSATION WITH EDITH HEAD to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art’s Edith Head retrospective exhibit.  In August she directed an acclaimed staged reading production of Kathleen Clark’s SOUTHERN COMFORTS in La Jolla California. This is just the beginning of her evolution, and she’s just getting started!
