Arizona Public Media’s New Facility at UA Tech Park at The Bridges Takes Shape

TUCSON, AZ (July 1, 2024) – Construction is progressing steadily at the new state-of-the-art Arizona Public Media (AZPM) facility, the Paul & Alice Baker Center for Public Media,  located within the UA Tech Park at The Bridges that broke ground on January 23, 2024.

The new 61,500-square-foot facility is designed to meet current and future technical and broadcast requirements to enhance media production and dissemination capabilities. Site preparation and earthwork have been completed. The new, modern facility for AZPM will better serve ever-changing community needs and interests, support the education and training of University of Arizona students, improve visibility and community access, and model the transparency aspect of journalism.

The foundation construction, including the erection of the framework, is underway. This facility is poised to become a key asset in advancing AZPM’s mission of providing high-quality media content. With its advanced technological setup, the new hub will significantly improve the production process and the overall viewer experience. The ongoing construction reflects AZPM’s commitment to innovation and excellence in broadcasting.

Located within the University of Arizona Tech Park at the Bridges, the building will feature upgraded production and broadcast technology, improved community engagement spaces, and new opportunities for increased original local content for and about Southern Arizona.

Arizona Public Media is currently located in the basement and sub-basement of UArizona’s Modern Languages Building and operates three television programs, four radio programs, and a growing array of digital services, in addition to producing a variety of original local productions. The Paul & Alice Baker Center for Public Media will allow AZPM to serve ever-changing community needs and interests better, support the education and training of UArizona students, improve visibility and community access, and provide a sense of place for AZPM in the community.
