Big Lots Closing 13 Stores in Arizona, 1 in Tucson

(July 25, 2024) — Several Big Lots store locations are set to close this year as the company faces financial hardships.

Big Lots filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission last month stating that it would close 35 to 40 stores this year and open three new locations.

Stores set to close have a website banner informing customers that they will close and offer sales of up to 20% off. There are 34 locations in Arizona, 13 of which are set to close.

Big Lots says the store closings are due to financial issues faced by customers.

“The U.S. economy has continued to face macroeconomic challenges including elevated inflation, which has adversely impacted the buying power of our customers,” the company said in its SEC filing.

The company has not specified a specific date for the closings.
