Chamberlain Group Manufacturing Center Breaks Ground in Tucson’s Ward 5

2850 E Drexel Rd., Tucson, AZ

TUCSON – A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Wednesday, May 24, at 2850 East Drexel in Tucson for a new manufacturing and distribution center for the Chamberlain Group.

As reported in the Real Estate Daily News January 10, 2017, the land is owned by EastGroup Properties, who will be constructing a 300,181-square-foot manufacturing and distribution facility for Chamberlain,  for the manufacturing of garage doors at the new location southwest of Country Club Road and Drexel.

Located in Tucson Ward 5, Councilmember Richard Fimbres directed the City Manager’s office and city staff to put this project on a fast track. “The City of Tucson lives off of sales tax and it is important that construction projects begin as quickly as possible,” Ward 5 Councilmember Fimbres said. Through efforts such as this, more than 7,000 jobs have been created in Ward 5 during Councilmember Fimbres’ tenure.

Chamberlain, currently at 6020 S. Country Club, will be expanding operations with this new location.

EastGroup said that this project will create 100 new construction jobs before completion is expected by the end of 2017.

“When the construction project is completed, I am looking forward to the ribbon cutting of the new facility and the jobs and opportunities it will bring,” Fimbres said. “This is another part of the Renaissance of Ward 5 and the South side.”
