Conn’s Home Plus to shutter 71 stores nationwide, 7 in Arizona

(July 25, 2024) Conn’s HomePlus has filed for bankruptcy and is closing 71 of 170 Conn’s HomePlus stores. The Texas-based company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Tuesday. Conn’s Inc. has more than $2.4 billion in total assets and $1.9 billion in total debts, court paperwork said.

The retailer has been struggling with slumping sales amid a dip in discretionary spending.

According to its website, Conn’s will shutter 71 of its 170 stores, including seven in Arizona.

They are:

  • 5530 E. Broadway Blvd, Tucson, AZ
  • 3742 W. River Road, Suite 150, Marana, AZ
  • Arcadia Crossing 4531 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ
  • 2820 W. Dunlap Ave., Phoenix, AZ
  • 2820 W. Chandler Blvd., Suite 8, Chandler, AZ
  • 5000 S. Arizona Mills Circle, Tempe, AZ
  • 1190 S. Castle Dome Ave., Yuma, AZ

Last year, Conn’s bought W.S. Badcock, another home goods retailer that operates under the “Badcock Home Furniture & More” name, increasing the company’s total retail footprint to more than 500 stores under the two brands. However, 35 Badcock stores are also closing.

Conn’s is closing stores in the following states: Alabama (1), Arizona (7) Colorado (6), Florida (18), Georgia (2), Louisiana (6), Mississippi (2), North Carolina (4), Oklahoma (4), South Carolina (3), Tennessee (4), Texas (9) and Virginia (5).

Conn’s HomePlus sells furniture, appliances, and electronics and has stores in 15 states.
