Preliminary Approval Granted with Site Zoned and Ready for Fall 2017 Construction
PHOENIX, AZ. -- Today, Drive Shack formally announced plans to open a new golf entertainment venue in the Phoenix market. Preliminary approval for the approximately 60,000-square-foot, multi-level complex has been granted and construction will soon be underway. The site is zoned and primed for construction at the southwest corner of Bethany Home Road and 99th Avenue, just off Loop 101. The site is located directly across from University of Phoenix Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals. Drive Shack is expected to produce more than 500 positions in the greater Phoenix area.
“Drive Shack’s vision to provide an innovative, vibrant destination for families, young professionals, corporate groups and anyone looking to enjoy a classic sport in a dynamic new way is magnetic. In addition, having this location centered in the heart of the city’s burgeoning West Valley submarket is truly something we look forward to sharing with the community,” said City of Phoenix District 5 Councilman Daniel Valenzuela. “Beyond creating quality jobs and the direct economic impact it’s sure to have in our city, Drive Shack’s approach to working with local businesses is unique and refreshing. We are thrilled to engage and weave them into the fabric of our great city.”
Drive Shack will operate a year-round sports entertainment destination that combines golf, dining, competition and fun. The venue will feature three levels with 96 hitting bays housed within a building where friends, family, coworkers or complete strangers can enjoy tech-powered golf games while using complementary TaylorMade golf equipment and enjoying great food and beverage. Visitors can also spectate from the restaurant area, event space, or complimentary game lounge. Drive Shack’s employees will curate and support a compelling, unforgettable customer experience that will keep non-golfers and golfers coming back to the Western Maricopa County area all year long. “We are proud to partner with the city and local business community to build a world-class community asset and have a lasting impact. We have taken the traditional golf driving range and pivoted the experience via cutting edge technology to make the sport of golf more exciting and accessible to golfers and non-golfers alike,” said Sarah Watterson, Drive Shack’s CEO.
