Fall Season of Tucson Pops Orchestra Presents a Stunning Showcase of Tucson Talent Sept. 22, 28 & Oct. 6

Tucson, AZ (September 10, 2024) – Music Under the Stars™ returns on September 22 with a trifecta of outstanding concerts performed by the Tucson Pops Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Khris Dodge at the DeMeester Outdoor Auditorium at Reid Park.  Tucson’s legendary Pops Orchestra has performed concerts in the park for 69 seasons, bringing together thousands of attendees – families, friends, and music lovers from all over the city.  All performances are free, with support from sponsors and “Friends of the Pops” at each concert. This support is essential in helping to continue the Pops mission of allowing everyone in the community to experience the magic of live music performed by professional musicians.

Tucson Pops concerts take place on Sunday evenings at 7 pm. This season showcases Tucson’s incredible wealth of world-class talent performing with the Tucson Pops.

Conductor and Artistic Director Khris Dodge works year-round to create exciting concerts with broad appeal. “I love how music brings people together.  Whether it be in a family’s living room, in a jazz club, a theatre, or a city park, we yearn for that human connection, not only with the musicians but with the people who surround us as we listen. Each concert features a beer garden and a wide selection of dining opportunities from the Food Truck Roundup. As always, guests are encouraged to bring their picnic set up, relax, and enjoy three beautiful evenings of outstanding Music Under the Stars™.

TUCSON POPS FALL CONCERTS

September 22 – ‘Showtime” – the orchestra will present an evening dedicated to great movie and Broadway classics performed by local vocalists Tyler Wright, and Erin Anderson along with talents from The Circus Academy of Tucson, a wonderful organization that provides diverse education in circus and theatre arts to youth and adults. September 29 – “Memories” Featuring solo performances by two Tucson Pops musicians: Oboist Christian Hill and Trumpeter Byron Yount who will present a selection of timeless classics and Tucson Pops favorites with the orchestra.

October 6, 2024 -“Celebrate Tucson” –Featuring the remarkable guest artist, Violinist/fiddler Heather “Lil’ Mama” Hardy, and other local talents in a concert that showcases the world-class musical talents who make Tucson their home.

About Music Under the Stars™

The DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center is located at Reid Park off Country Club Road, just north of 22nd Street. Parking and shuttle service are also available at the Randolph Park Golf Course parking lot, Alvernon Way, just north of 22nd Street.

The Tucson Pops Orchestra has provided outdoor concerts to Tucson and southern Arizona audiences since 1955. Founded by Georges DeMeester and Ernest Hoffman with just 22 musicians, the orchestra has grown to 50 professional members who perform for audiences of up to 8,500.  Before settling in their seasonal location at the DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center at Reid Park, the orchestra performed in various community locations.  In 1973, Charles ‘Bucky” Steele took over as conductor, followed by Laszlo Veres, who retired and passed the baton to Khris Dodge in the fall of 2022.  Now in its 69th year, with support from Tucson Parks and Recreation, corporate partners, and Friends of the Pops, the Tucson Pops Orchestra aims to continue to fulfill its mission of providing Music Under the Stars™ to the community for many more years to come.
