PIMA COUNTY, ARIZONA – If you’re new to the sport of shooting, Pima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation invites you to attend First Shots, a free beginner’s course, on Saturday, March 19, at the Southeast Regional Park Shooting Range, 11296 S. Harrison Road.
At First Shots, novice shooters have the opportunity to learn from certified coaches and experienced shooters about the safety protocols associated with shooting handguns and rifles.
First Shots is organized by the WildGats, a collegiate shooting team for the Scholastic Action Shooting Program at the University of Arizona, in collaboration with NRPR’s Shooting Sports Program.
“The goal is to teach individuals who are new to shooting sports how to handle and use firearms in a safe, effective and responsible way,” said Shooting Sports Program Director Cliff Gyves.
Classes begin at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. To register for a slot, visit the WildGats First Shots registration page. Pre-registration is preferred, and minors must be accompanied by an adult.
The Pima County Shooting Sports Program also operates two other rifle and pistol ranges, two archery ranges and a shotgun clay target center.
