Granada Gallery Purchased the Downtown Gallery it has leased since 2015
TUCSON, AZ (May 30, 2024)—GRANADA Gallery purchased the Art Gallery at 338 N Granada Avenue in Tucson for $1 million ($195 PSF) from Black Butte Livestock Company of Thermopolis, WY. A 5,120-square-foot converted SFR.
The two founders, Alison and Rüdiger Pohl, established GRANADA in 2015 in this beautiful 1910 arts-and-crafts-style house in El Presidio Historic District in downtown Tucson on the now infamous Granada Avenue. The name GRANADA is not just a nod to its unique story of origin but also a homage to the world’s largest gem, mineral, and fossil show and everything it symbolizes in business and life for the two founders.
Alison and Rüdiger’s story is one of serendipity and shared passion. They first crossed paths in Tucson during the Gem Show in 2009. Their diverse backgrounds, similar interests, and deep family ties to the world of natural history ignited a spark that led to a profound partnership, both in life and business.
Striving to create a pinnacle platform for everything related to natural history and design, GRANADA has since stood synonymously for the highest quality and products reflecting all industries represented during The Tucson Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show – spanning geological rarities and collectibles, natural history objects, art decor, and jewelry.
Decades of dedicated collecting and an extensive network within the industry have culminated in a diverse and comprehensive collection of fossils, meteorites, gemstones, and minerals. Their own excavation sites and close ties to the trade ensure they are always at the source of all the curated and offered objects, guaranteeing the highest quality, provenance, and full proof of authenticity.
Additionally, GRANADA employs mineralogy, gemology, and paleontology specialists and works side-by-side with scientists and museum curators.
GRANADA also supplies and collaborates with collectors, auction houses, designers, and museums worldwide. Through special exhibitions and scientific projects, it hopes to promote higher knowledge and education sparked by curiosity and wonder. GRANADA has also participated in international events such as Art Basel Miami, TEFAF Maastricht, or Design Hotel Arena in Copenhagen.
In 2019, the couple joined forces with a close friend and renowned Belgian jewelry designer, Jochen Leën.
Together, they have steadily elevated the scope and reach of GRANADA, further expanding into the European market, branching out into top-tier hospitality, forging new partnerships, and establishing a home base within the prestigious Hotel La Butte aux Bois in Lanaken, Belgium. From here, they continue to develop and transform GRANADA, always striving to push the limits and pursue our wildest dreams!
