QUEEN CREEK, AZ (May 8, 2024) -- After nine months of hard work, the Haydon team hosted a momentous "Topping-Off" ceremony for the Town of Queen Creek's Recreation & Aquatic Center. This monumental $65 million project, spanning 17 months, promises an array of thrilling amenities, including a lazy river, competition pool, leisure pool, and a sprawling 68,000-square-foot recreation building—larger than a football field—complete with a gym and teaching kitchen.
The topping-off ceremony, including the symbolic signing of beams, marks a significant milestone, embodying the spirit of growth and solidarity among workers and the community. As the final structural beam, crowned with a tree, is lifted into place, it signifies the completion of the skeletal framework and embodies wishes of good fortune and lasting success.
Heather Marin, Project Director at Haydon, expressed excitement, remarking, "The buzz surrounding this project is incredible. It's not just a milestone for the community; it's a monumental achievement for Haydon. We have a rich history of delivering exceptional aquatic centers and recreation facilities, and this project is yet another example of our commitment to excellence."
Mayor Julie Wheatley of Queen Creek echoed Marin's sentiments, “It’s such a beautiful project and will provide so much to our residents. With our Parks & Rec team, all of the opportunities we have in Queen Creek, one of our goals is quality of life for our residents and this project here today will accelerate that. And you think about for generations, the families that will gather here, the memories they will make here, it’s absolutely tremendous to be a part of that process.”
The project was made possible through the collaborative efforts of key trade partners, including DP Electric, Comfort Systems, Nickle, Universal Plumbing, H-Brothers, TP-Acoustic, Adobe Drywall, Graywolf MAG Masonry, Cherry Painting Company, and Division 3.
In addition to the Frontier Family Park Recreation & Aquatic Center, Haydon is also actively involved in various other projects with the Town of Queen Creek, including AR100 ASLD infrastructure improvements, Mansel Carter Oasis Park Phase 2, and the Kenworthy Road Sewer Line & Waterline Extension, further solidifying its commitment to enhancing the community’s infrastructure and gathering spaces.
