TUCSON, ARIZONA – The former Home Style Galleries Furniture Store at 1010 S Wilmot Road in Tucson will soon be converted to an Eastside location for the Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA). The 15,998-square-foot building on 2 acres was purchased by HSSA for $1.35 million ($84 PSF).

The new location will consolidate the current leased Thrift Store space in the Park Place Mall with adoption services and vaccination clinics, as well as a future 24/7 Animal Veterinary Clinic.

The Eastside Thrift Store has been a tremendous success, in particular with the generosity of local donors such as Sam Levitz Furniture. It opened January 15th while waiting improvements of  its new FOREVER home, now scheduled to open mid-Summer.

“We are certainly bullish on Tucson,” said Steve Farley, CEO of the Humane Society of Southern Arizona. “We’re thrilled to have this opportunity to serve the pets and the people who love them on the eastside. We kept hearing more and more of the need to better serve this side of Tucson and we are very excited to now be able to serve communities as far away as Benson.”

HSSA’s HQ at 635 West Roger Road is also expanding. In cooperation with The University of Arizona, a new behavioral research project will soon help people and pets overcome any separation anxiety when pet owners have to return to normal working schedules outside the home.

“The expansion of services will also call for even more involvement by the community,” Farley continued. “Anyone who would like to get involved to help with fundraising or donations, should contact me directly.” Farley can be emailed at [email protected].

HSSA events and adoptable pets are available at HSSAZ.org updates and at the the Humane Society of Southern Arizona facebook page.

Mick Cluck with Long Realty represented the seller, The Catherene Morton Revocable Trust and Karen Farrell and Jordan Simon with Venture West Real Estate Services represented the Humane Society in the  building acquisition.

For more information, Farrell can be contacted at 520.722.9292 and Cluck can be reached at 520.349.3533.
