Tucson, AZ—MOCA Tucson is currently accepting applications for Night Bloom: Grants for Artists, a regranting program providing $60,000 in grants to artists in Pima County. Night Bloom is a project-specific award to support under-the-radar, experimental, and collaboratively-focused visual art projects. Awards ranging from $5,000 to $7,5000 will go to artists making public-facing work that exists beyond the reach of traditional structures, and that enhances the cultural ecosystems within the greater Tucson area.
Successful proposals are expected to run the gamut, including public art projects, mutual aid arts initiatives, community storytelling, alternative arts education projects, and more. Priority will be given to proposals that are collaborative, center equity, and engage with the unique contexts and possibilities of the greater Tucson area and the Sonoran Desert.
“Night Bloom grants are open to all who self-identify as visual artists in our community, we are excited to fund unique projects and generate new opportunities for artistic exchange and discourse in the region” explains MOCA Assistant Curator and Night Bloom Project Manager Alexis Wilkinson.
Night Bloom is one of 32 programs funded by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts Regional Regranting Program. Established in 2007, the program is administered by non-profit visual art centers across the United States including MOCA Tucson.
“The Warhol Foundation’s Regional Regranting Program supports ambitious public-facing artist-led projects in communities across the country” says Rachel Bers, Program Director at the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, “We are excited to see the energy of artists in the greater Tucson area manifest in a range of collaborative experimental works through Night Bloom.”
Night Bloom grant applications are open until October 25th, 2021 at 11:59pm through MOCA’s website (moca-tucson.org/nightbloom). Applications will be judged by an independent panel with award recipients announced late November. All grant materials are available in English and Spanish and applications can be completed in either language.
