PIMA COUNTY, (June 7, 2024) – Pima Animal Care Center pets stay up late in hopes of finding new homes every Friday during the shelter’s Summer Adoption Nights.
PACC will be open from noon to 8:15 p.m. during these Friday events. In addition, a different adoption special will be featured each week and announced on PACC’s social media (Facebook, Instagram) ahead of the event.
PACC currently has 500 dogs and 128 cats in the shelter and hundreds more pets in foster care looking for homes. According to PACC leadership staff, PACC, and other shelters have a particularly high need for adopters and fosters during the summer months. Shelters typically see lower adoption and foster rates in the summer as college students head home, snowbirds head north, and vacation season begins. This slowdown tends to coincide with increased numbers of pets coming into the shelter due to cat and dog breeding seasons.
Dogs and puppies are currently free to adopt. A $20 licensing fee may apply for adult dogs. All pets adopted from PACC are microchipped, spayed, or neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations.
PACC is located at 4000 N. Silverbell Road and is typically open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from noon to 7 p.m., on Wednesday from 1:30 – 7 p.m., and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To learn more about PACC pets and services that are available, please go to www.pima.gov/animalcare.
