PIMA COUNTY, (Nov. 4, 2024) – Pima Animal Care Center offers free crates and dog beds to anyone who adopts a dog weighing 40 pounds or more to encourage adopters to welcome a new pet into their homes.

The crate and bed promotion will run from Nov. 1 to 10 or until supplies last. All dogs and puppies are currently free to adopt at PACC. The shelter has dogs of all shapes and sizes to choose from, including dozens of adoptable puppies under 6 months of age. Pets adopted from PACC are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines, representing a savings of hundreds of dollars in vet care.

PACC’s Director, Monica Dangler, said that the number of dogs coming into the shelter is outpacing the number of dogs adopted, which makes the shelter loud and congested and creates a stressful environment for everyone.

“We know Pima County residents care deeply about these pets, and so do we,” said Dangler. “That’s why we’re asking for our community’s help in finding foster and adoptive homes for the pets in our care. We want PACC to be a stress-free for our pets and for the people visiting the shelter.”

PACC currently has 550 dogs in its shelter and 800 dogs in foster care. The shelter took in 915 dogs in October alone, the majority of which were strays.

PACC is located at 4000 N. Silverbell Road and is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from noon to 7 p.m., on Wednesday from 1:30 – 7 p.m., and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. PACC is active on Facebook and Instagram, where daily updates are posted about the shelter’s status, promotions, and adoptable pets.
