SCS Engineers Expands Phoenix Office Expertise to Meet Environmental Consulting Demand

Tempe, AZ – SCS Engineers, an award-winning environmental consulting firm, is expanding the firm’s Phoenix, Arizona office to meet the growing demand for sustainable environmental engineering. The most recent hires are Mike Bradford, senior professional engineer; Cynthia Neitzel, professional engineer; Taylor Goins, field services; and Samantha Montgomery, a technical associate who works as part of SCS’s comprehensive team.

Goins provides clients with landfill gas monitoring and other related environmental monitoring services, helping them reduce operational costs and protect air quality. He also operates and maintains other environmental pollution control systems.

Montgomery’s focus is to prepare monthly, semi-annual, and annual greenhouse gas reports, along with processing and analyzing the data associated with those reports. She specializes in air quality compliance Taylor Goins and permitting, particularly for landfills.

Bradford brings more than 20 years of experience in civil engineering and project management. He has been the principal engineer and engineer of record for a wide range of public and private sector capital projects in Arizona and across the country for solid waste landfills and other public works civil projects.

As a landfill project manager focusing on landfill gas collection and control systems and compliance reporting, Neitzel brings more than 20 years of experience. She has a background in landfill design, construction quality assurance, and air quality permitting and compliance.

Berkadia Completes $9.55 Million Sale of Development Site in Phoenix Submarket, Apache Junction

APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA – Berkadia announced today the sale of ±20 acres of land situated at the Southwest Tomahawk Road and Broadway Avenue in Apache Junction, Arizona. Senior Managing Director Mark Forrester and Director Andrew Curtis of Berkadia Phoenix completed the $9.547 million sale. The deal closed on April 29.

The acquiring developer plans to build a 201-unit Single-Family Rental (SFR) luxury multifamily community on the site. Municipal entitlements and this proposed development were in place at the time of closing.

“This site is located within an identified Opportunity Zone and is convenient to the strong and growing multifamily demand in the East Valley of Phoenix,” said Forrester.

This land sale is the 58th multifamily development site the Berkadia Phoenix team has sold.

 




Texas Private REIT Acquires 28 Casita-style communities with 426 Units in Tucson for $91.25 Million

TUCSON, ARIZONA — HZ Properties (Ike Isaacson of KDI Management, manager) sold a 426 casitas in 28 properties portfolio in Tucson for $91.25 million ($214,000 per unit) to a Texas REIT, Commerce Capital Partners (ComCapp) of San Antonio.

ComCapp is a private real estate investment and management firm focused on multifamily that actively searches out opportunities with value-add components, little or no competition, and undercapitalized ownership structures in markets that have long-term growth potential.

Most of the rental homes have amenities you would expect to find in a single-family residence, such as washer/dryer hook ups, covered parking, fenced backyards, and more.  The 1- and 2-bedroom casitas are tucked away in 28 lush communities located around Tucson.

Unlike apartment complexes, the casita-style communities are single story and contain fewer homes per community. The seller personally leased, maintained and managed all of the communities and buyer will do the same.
