Pima County (May 7, 2025) - The Pima County Board of Supervisors at its May 6 meeting voted 5-0 to appoint David Miller as the Justice of the Peace for Precinct 6.
Miller currently is a prosecutor in the Pima County Attorney’s Office. He also spent five years at the Office of Children’s Counsel as a dependency, delinquency and appellate attorney. Miller also clerked for Judge Peter Hochuli in Pima County Superior Court.
As a children’s attorney, Miller provided direct representation to youth and parents navigating often complex legal circumstances. When he transitioned into the role of juvenile prosecutor, Miller wrote in his letter of application that he sought to balance “accountability with compassion; recognizing that early interventions, restorative justice, and community-based solutions are often more effective than punitive measures alone.”
Miller earned both his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Arizona.
Miller was selected from among five candidates for the JP post. He will serve through Dec. 31, 2026. A Primary and General election will be held in 2026 and the candidate elected by the voters of Precinct 6 will serve the remainder of the term until Dec. 31, 2028.
All candidates had to meet the following statutory requirements, complete a financial disclosure statement form and conflict of interest form.
- 18 years of age or older at the time of the appointment
- Resident of the state
- An elector of the county or precinct in which the duties of the office are to be exercised
- Literate in English
- The same political party as the person vacating the office, in this case a Democrat.
