PIMA COUNTY, ARIZONA – The Pima County Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 against a month-long extension of Resolution 2021-87, which requires everyone in Pima County to wear a face covering indoors when six feet of physical distancing cannot be maintained.
Board members made the decision in a 3-2 vote against Acting County Administrator Jan Lesher's recommendation of an additional month of mask mandates that would have extended the requirement through Monday, March 28.
Resolution 2021-87, which was passed by the Board on Dec. 21, 2021, in response to a sharp rise of COVID-19 cases due to the omicron variant, expires Feb. 28, 2022.
Masks will still be required in County buildings.
Sharon Bronson, Rex Scott and Steve Christy voted against the measure.
