TUCSON, AZ (December 12, 2023) - Raytheon announced in February that it would open a 14,000-square-foot office at The Refinery, just minutes away from the University of Arizona (UA) main campus. On Thursday, Raytheon President Wes Kremer and UA President Robert C. Robbins helped cut the ribbon for the new office, within the four-story building that was built out and leased by the University of Arizona in the Refinery.
The UA Tech Park at the Bridges is a multi-use development near East 36th Street and South Kino Parkway. The University of Arizona's connection to the Tucson aerospace industry is strengthening with Raytheon Missiles & Defense move. With more than 10,000 employees, Raytheon is one of Tucson's largest employers and frequently hires UA's engineering graduates. The company will lease approximately 14,000 square feet of office space at the Tech Park's building called The Refinery, moving in alongside several UA units.
“The Refinery provides us the much-needed space to continue collaborating with our university partners and government agencies to develop next-generation technology,” said President Wes Kremer, Raytheon Missiles & Defense. “It will also help us continue to develop the local workforce for future careers in aerospace and enable us to expand our research due to the proximity to the University of Arizona’s engineering facilities.”
“Raytheon’s commitment to The Refinery is an extension of the robust relationship with the University of Arizona,” said Carol Stewart, vice president for Tech Parks Arizona. “We purposefully built the UA Tech Park to facilitate university-industry interaction and create a sandbox for new technology advancement and economic prosperity.”
Raytheon will be the first corporate tenant at The Refinery.
