Ryman Hospitality Acquires JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge for $865M in Landmark Deal

PHOENIX, AZ (May 21, 2025) – Ryman Hospitality Properties has acquired the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa for $865 million, marking one of Arizona’s most significant hotel transactions. The 950-room resort is the largest in Phoenix and will continue to operate under the JW Marriott flag.

Trinity Investments, which purchased the property in 2019 for $602 million with backing from Elliott Investment Management, completed a transformative $100 million renovation in 2023. The upgrades included a full redesign of guest rooms, a new water park complex, two new signature restaurants (bringing the total to seven food and beverage venues), and a refreshed lobby. The resort also features two championship golf courses.

“We have transformed the property into a landmark destination for both business and leisure travelers,” said Sean Hehir, Managing Partner at Trinity. “We are proud to deliver strong returns for our investors.”

Ryman, which acquired the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort for $800 million last year, said it sees both near- and long-term value creation opportunities at Desert Ridge.
