Non-Profit to Expand Services in Phoenix and Tucson
PHOENIX and TUCSON, Arizona – SAAVI Services for the Blind, an Arizona-based non-profit serving the visually impaired, has purchased two Arizona buildings, one in Phoenix and the other in Tucson. The organization plans to use the facilities to expand its services within the Arizona communities.
“Demand for our services has grown significantly as the population has expanded in Arizona,” says Michael Gordon, CEO of SAAVI Services for the Blind. “We serve an expanding list of clients in Maricopa County and the new Phoenix building will help us meet the important demand for our programs. The Tucson building will serve as our corporate headquarters and offers much-needed, modernized facilities.”
SAAVI Services for the Blind purchased a 16,500-square-foot office building at 2920 N. 7th St. in Phoenix for $1,920,000. The building was sold by Fourth Burroughs, LLC. SAAVI Services for the Blind plans to hold a grand-opening of the new Phoenix facility on June 23, 2022 from 2-6 pm. Maricopa County has approximately 200,000 blind or visually impaired residents in need of assistance. SAAVI has been serving clients in Arizona for more than 60 years and expanded in Phoenix to better serve this important population.
The Tucson headquarters building is located at 3350 N. Grant Rd. and was purchased for $2,000,000. The 23,000-square-foot building was sold by TRT Grant/Rita Associates.
Greg Hopley, executive vice president, and Dillon Hopley, senior associate, with Coliers in Arizona exclusively represented SAAVI Services for the Blind with the purchase of the two buildings.
“This remarkable non-profit organization was in need of new properties in both the Tucson and Greater Phoenix markets,” says Greg Hopley. “Both markets have experienced dynamic real estate activity, especially from the investment community. Despite tight conditions, we were able to identify two great options for SAAVI that will serve the organization well for years to come.”
SAAVI Services for the Blind specializes in non-visual training for adults, young adults, teens and children across Arizona who are blind or have low vision. Legally known as The Southern Arizona Association for the Visually Impaired, dba SAAVI Services for the Blind is a 501c3 IRS approved non-profit agency with offices in Tucson, Yuma and Phoenix. Originally founded by two blind sisters in 1964, SAAVI first began as a social club for visually impaired individuals and has since grown into a statewide agency serving thousands of clients throughout Arizona.
