September 15th to mark 7th Annual Climb 4 the Fallen at 5151 E. Broadway, Tucson

Tucson’ First Responders to climb 17-floors, seven times, in full gear

Tucson, AZ – 5151 E. Broadway tower announces the seventh annual Climb 4 the Fallen’ 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb is scheduled for Sunday, September 15th, 2019. Over 150 first responders will make the grueling 17-story climb, seven times, in full gear.

Firefighters, police officers and EMT’s pay $40 to participate in the event. 100% of proceeds benefit fallen firefighters and the Climb 4 The Fallen group. According to the organization’s lead coordinator, firefighter Daniel Cramlit, “We vowed as a work family unit to never forget. With heavy hearts  we honor the families of the 343 FDNY brothers that died in 2001.” To the committee of firefighters including Anthony Taylor, Randy Cramblit and Tobin Johnson (Charity Chairman representing the North Tucson Firefighters Association), this event continues to be a way for them to help local firefighters by funding support programs. Their spouses are an integral part of the overall event; their children understand the importance of this day.

Climb participants will gather at 8 am on Sunday, September 15th on the parking deck at 5151 E. Broadway for a day of reflection and to make the climb. A brief opening ceremony will kick off the morning with speakers who recall that day first hand and offer inspiration. Each climber will carry a photo of a firefighter that died on 9-11. The Climb is not a race, but an opportunity to remember the 343 FDNY members and 70 Law Enforcement Officers who sacrificed their lives to save others.

The  public is welcome to come out and cheer on the men and women as they enter the stairwell and begin the climb. The final show of respect is the traditional “tolling of the bell” ceremony in the lobby at 5151. There will also be a display paying tribute to the 19 Arizona firefighters lost on June 30th, 2013.
