Southern AZ’s largest soccer tournament happening at Kino Jan. 18-20
Over 300 teams registered to participate
PIMA COUNTY– Kino Sports Complex welcomes the Tucson Association of Realtors for their annual soccer tournament Jan. 18-20. Known as the largest soccer tournament in Southern Arizona, this competition draws hundreds of teams from across the region for three days of competitive game play and fun activities.
Now in its 29th year, the Tucson Association of Realtors Shootout attracts over 5,000 soccer players in the under-8 to under-16 groups, their families and fans from Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, California and Mexico. This year, organizers have about 300 teams registered to participate.
Over the three-day weekend, the Shootout will hold hundreds of soccer matches and many fun events for the participating teams, including an opening ceremony with a Parade of Teams, the Soccer Olympics and Spirit Cup. All events and a majority of the tournament play will take place at Kino’s North and South Complex fields, however, some games will also be held at Udall and Golf Links Park. Games and events are free and open to the public. Free parking also included.
The Opening Ceremonies will take place Friday, Jan. 18 inside the Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium, 2500 E. Ajo Way. Gates open at 3 p.m. and activities will get underway by 6 p.m. For this event, Kino Sports Complex will enforce its Clear Bag Policy, which allows for personal items carried inside a 12”x6”x12” clear plastic bag or similar. Although the remainder of the tournament won’t adhere to a clear bag policy, Kino Sports Complex will enforce a select list of approved items for spectators, teams and coaches. Looking Ahead
In 2020, the Shootout plans to celebrate its 30th anniversary in its entirety at Kino Sports Complex. The facility has started construction on a 167-acre expansion just south of Interstate 10. First phase of improvements at the Kino South Complex will include 12 showcase level, lighted natural grass sand-based long fields, numerous amenities and 20 pickelball courts. When complete, this expansion will make Kino Sports Complex an unrivaled, prime destination for regional and national sporting events.
