Jason Boyer, AIA LEED AP strengthens developer-centric services at the Phoenix design firm
PHOENIX, AZ - Phoenix-based Studio Ma, a nationally recognized architectural and environmental design practice, announced that Jason Boyer, AIA LEED AP has joined the firm as a principal. Studio Ma is known for cutting-edge, sustainable designs.
Christiana Moss, AIA, principal at Studio Ma, says the addition of Boyer comes at a time when the firm is looking to grow and diversify its services to respond to market demands for changing how architecture is designed and constructed, particularly as the practices used by commercial real estate developers are adopted by public and private institutions. She adds, “We find our clients seeking more economy-minded solutions to arrive at great designs. We are excited to have Jason join Studio Ma to better serve our clients to achieve their goals, particularly through new delivery methods such as public private partnerships.”
Boyer, a 20-year resident of Phoenix, has been a leader in the region’s architectural community for many years. He is no stranger to the challenges and hard work behind designing and developing a project, especially when wearing both hats. artHAUS, Boyer’s first design-led development venture, features 25 modern dwellings, from three-story townhomes to single story flats in the heart of Midtown’s Arts District. He says, “For me, good design isn’t about pushing the envelope—it’s about redefining it. It’s about looking at things differently until the spark appears. The best project opportunities and today’s public and private clients are looking to align that creative spark to a smart business case, that’s where I operate. I believe money is a design tool like any other, and delivering the goods without breaking the bank is a true measurement of professionalism.”
artHAUS is the first of a series of multifamily developments Boyer will be building in urban locations nationwide. Each will be sited near notable cultural or academic institutions to provide residents with a high quality of life; they will also meet high standards of sustainable design, qualifying for both Energy Star and the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Homes certifications.
Boyer has led the design of new and renovated buildings for Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, University of Arizona, Pima Community College District and Great Heart Academies, working on a wide range of facilities including general academic, student life, health and wellness, sports and recreation. Boyer served as lead architect for the 1 million square foot pair of residential high-rises in Tempe, West 6th (formerly Centerpoint Condominiums), Major League Baseball Spring Training stadiums, related player development facilities for the cities of Phoenix and Mesa, as well as other civic buildings.
