Phoenix, Arizona – No stranger to social media, the Director of Marketing, PR & Administration with SVN Desert Commercial Advisors, Melissa Swader has recently launched a national Facebook group called Women in Commercial Real Estate.

The group was created back in January 2020, but she officially announced the group just last week.  Swader a Phoenix native, is a media & marketing figure named as one of the

‘2020 Influencers in Marketing’ by Globe St./Real Estate Forum magazine in New York. Though Melissa has been known for her press work and industry acknowledgements, she is also an avid small business advocate for both men and women.  “I welcome all men and women to join the group.  I just feel that there are so many women out there that need a platform specifically designed to help elevate their business and brand,” said Swader. “The group is designed to welcome new listing posts, tenant and purchase requirements, industry acknowledgements, best practices and more importantly, just a way that everyone can learn from each other and celebrate each other’s successes.”

Melissa was also a 'Women in Business' mentor last year and actively serves as a mentor to ASU business and journalism students. With the high demand for recruiting and embracing women in the commercial real estate industry, there is now a national platform specifically for women in CRE.  Swader stated, “I also welcome all local and national media editors and publishers to join this group. I hope that they are inspired by all the amazing work that is being achieved out there.” The group also has a corresponding Facebook business page that will support all media links and news stories across the country.

Director of Communications, Danielle Haney With DealPoint Merrill stated, “Connecting with women not only provides additional resources but like-minded collaboration.  Haney wears many hats and leads a team of advisors in Las Vegas, Nevada. “I believe “Connecting Women in Commercial Real Estate” group is a great way to bring about women's conversations, share and market new ideas, deals and make new friends.”  From one state to another, women can support each other.  Director of Marketing, Crystal Beckett with SVN | Walt Arnold Commercial Brokerage in New Mexico said, “The rapid network growth I’ve experienced as a result of joining, hands down, surpasses that of any group I’ve taken part in previously.”  Beckett joined the SVN team in 2019 and has been learning how to leverage her role as Director. “The group fills a void in the social presence of the industry; providing an accessible, well-informed dialog for CRE professionals and a platform for promoting brand awareness.”

While this is one of many Facebook groups out there, there is only one Women in Commercial Real Estate. This will be a platform that will grow quickly over the next few months because it is designed to encourage, support, inspire and celebrate women in CRE all over the country.
