Arizona Multihousing Association selects its 2019 leadership group, board members

PHOENIX, ARIZONA  – Arizona Multihousing Association, the statewide trade group for the apartment industry, elected 2019 officers and board members at its December 6 board meeting.

Assuming the chair is John Carlson, President of Mark-Taylor Residential. The rest of the leadership group comprises Wendy Weiske, vice chair, Dunlap & Magee; Kim Pacheco, treasurer, Scotia Group Management; Reid Butler, secretary, Butler Housing Company; Nicole Wray, immediate past chair, Greystar; and Adam Grecco, AMC executive, Burns Pest Elimination.

“My goal is to energize and engage,” Carlson said. “We have a board that is 50 strong, the industry is growing, and we are at the forefront of providing quality housing to over 37 percent of Arizonans. The success of the apartment industry is something we’re proud of. It’s like being the Yankees. Everyone is chasing you and some are jealous.

“Being in that role puts a certain amount of responsibility on us. This industry is as strong as ever. Through our legislative work and affiliation with NAA (National Apartment Association), we intend to keep it going strong. We’re the fifth largest NAA affiliate in the U.S. and one of the most proactive; we’re also the fourth largest trade organization in Arizona. I’m looking forward to a great year,” Carlson said.

The AMA’s signature events are the Tribute Awards held in May at the Phoenix Convention Center and the annual golf tournament held in October, played this year at Starfire Golf Club in Scottsdale.

Courtney LeVinus Named President and CEO for the Arizona Multihousing Association

PHOENIX, Arizona — After an extensive nationwide search the Arizona Multihousing Association (AMA), the statewide trade association for the apartment industry, has named longtime advocacy partner Courtney Gilstrap LeVinus as the President and CEO.  For nearly 20 years, LeVinus has worked with the AMA leading their advocacy team at the federal, state and local levels.  She’s the co-founder of Capitol Consulting, LLC a public affairs and association management firm which is headquartered in Phoenix.  In her new role Courtney will represent the 2,000 plus AMA member companies including property management firms, developers, rental property owners and rental housing industry suppliers from across Arizona.     “Courtney has been instrumental in the expansion and success of the AMA for nearly two decades. Thanks to her efforts, we have been able to curtail unnecessary regulation and educate leaders around the state about the benefits and economic impact of the multifamily industry,” said Nicole Wray, Senior Director of Real Estate Services for Greystar Real Estate Partners and Chair of the AMA Board of Directors.  “She’s been an exceptional representative for our members over the past year as the Interim President and CEO and we are so pleased to have her leading our organization.”

“I’m thrilled to accept this position and have the opportunity to serve an incredibly talented and committed Board of Directors and membership. My career has focused on real estate and the apartment industry, and this is an opportunity to further develop that expertise as the need for quality rental housing in Arizona continues to grow,” said LeVinus.

Outside of AMA, Courtney serves on the following boards – Arizona Tax Research Association, Arizona Chamber of Commerce and the Arizona Branch of the International Dyslexia Association.  Courtney graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

Capitol Consulting and its team of public affairs experts will continue to lead the advocacy and association management efforts for all their clients.  Government Affairs Director, Jake Hinman, will take on additional leadership responsibilities of their portfolio of clients.

 




AMA Honors Multifamily Communities and Leaders at Annual Tribute Awards

PHOENIX, Arizona –  Each year, the Arizona Multihousing Association (AMA) brings apartment industry leaders together for one night at its annual AMA / Cox Communication Tribute Award Gala to celebrate the successes of the teams, individuals, volunteers and communities that are the best in the apartment industry.

On the night of Friday, May 11th, a sold-out crowd of 1,400 industry leaders gathered for the 26th Annual Tribute Awards gala to honor the best apartment community professionals, teams, and communities in Arizona. The winners were judged in a competitive process and the twenty-plus winners were selected from hundreds of nominations from around Arizona.

“It is our amazing members and their professional teams that make living in an apartment home such a wonderful experience for over a third of Arizonans,” said Courtney Gilstrap LeVinus, President and CEO of the Arizona Multihousing Association.

The apartment industry supports over 131,000 jobs in Arizona including leasing professionals, onsite managers, maintenance technicians, accountants, construction services, development and executive positions.

“Managing apartments takes an entire team. Tonight, we recognize individuals and teams who work tirelessly, and truly exhibit excellence in our industry,” said Nicole Wray, Senior Director of Real Estate Service for Greystar Real Estate Partners and the 2018 Chair of the Board.
