Dec. 13 Workforce Investment Board meeting to focus on Entrepreneurship in Pima County

pimacountyworkforce“Entrepreneurship in Pima County” will be the topic addressed by a panel at the Pima County Workforce Investment Board meeting on Friday, Dec. 13. The meeting is also the Workforce Investment Board’s and Pima County One-Stop Career Center’s 4th annual appreciation event for local employers and partners. The new 2012-2013 Workforce Investment Board annual report on workforce development in Pima County will be distributed.

George also led a task force of 23 leaders formed to develop recommendations for a new economic engine – the Entrepreneurial Economy for Tucson. The task force’s report is available on the Tucson Regional Economic Organization’s (TREO) website.

The Pima County Workforce Investment Board is appointed by the Pima County Board of Supervisors to provide recommendations on local workforce policy and oversight of the Pima County One-Stop Career Center. The board includes representatives of local businesses, nonprofits and educational institutions. One-Stop works with employers in local growth, high-demand industry occupations to address their current and future workforce needs.

USA Pawn & Jewelry Tenant Buys Building on First Ave

The Wright-Oracle, LLC (Bruce Wright, manager) sold the 10,090 sq. ft. building and excess land at 2904 N 1st Avenue in Tucson to the tenant for the past nine years. USA Pawn & Jewelry of Las Vegas through its affiliate North 1st Avenue, LLC (Craig McCall, partner) paid $1.2 million ($119 PSF) in an all-cash deal. The property sits on an 81,320 sq. ft. lot zoned C-2, and had a 1,984 sq. ft. boarded up building at 2886 N 1st Avenue that sold for land value along with excess land and a total of 428 feet frontingFirst Avenue.

The building occupied by USA Pawn was remodeled in 2012, with 1,500 sq. ft. retail and 8,405 sq. ft. storage on a paved lot with 43 parking spaces, according to the building plans.

USA Pawn & Jewelry Company is a private company established in 2002 inNevadaand has locations in Nevada, Oregon and Arizona. In Tucson, it has nine other locations at 3867 N Oracle, 2590 S Kolb Rd, 1726 W Ajo Way, 1895 W Valencia, 420 W Valencia, 1902 E Irvington, 5000 E Speedway Blvd, 3402 S 6th Avenue, and 4870 E 22nd Street.
