RETAIL – VALENCIA MARKETPLACE SHOPS, TUCSON
GoWireless, Inc leased 2,500-square-feet at Valencia Marketplace Shops for a Verizon Wireless store. Valencia Marketplace Shops are at the southwest corner of Valencia and Indian Agency Road, adjacent to a brand new 100,000-square-foot Fry’s grocery store. This is the first new Fry’s store to open in Tucson in almost ten years. Other tenants in the center include Nationwide Vision, Pizza Patron, and Great Clips. Scottsdale Horizon Shopping Plaza Sells for $42.65 Million

safewayScottsdale – A company formed by Weingarten Realty Inc. of Houston, TX (NYSE:WRI) paid $42.65 million ($276 PSF) for Scottsdale Horizon, a 154,766-square-foot neighborhood shopping center located at the southwest corner of Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Thompson Peak Parkway in Scottsdale.

The Scottsdale Horizon (built 1999) is anchored by a Safeway and was 95% occupied at time of sale. The nine-buildings have addresses of 14676-14858 N. Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard in Scottsdale.

The seller was CH Realty V/Scottsdale LLC, formed by Crow Holdings Capital Partners LLC of Dallas, TX. Maricopa County records show Weingarten acquired the property in an all cash transaction.

Weingarten, a publicly-traded real estate investment trust (REIT), has been developing, purchasing and selling retail properties in the Phoenix market for 20 years.

Weingarten develops and buys well-anchored neighborhood and community centers located in select markets across the U.S. The company has ownership interest in 47.4 million sq. ft. of retail space in 251 properties located in 21 states and is looking for more retail acquisitions and development opportunities in Arizona; the company has also been active in Tucson.

RETAIL – NEC FLORENCE & I-10, CASA Grande, AZ.
Velocity Retail Group’s Darren Pitts and Michael Clark represented tenant Mattress Firm in the lease of 4,000-square-feet at the northeast corner of Florence and the I-10 in Casa Grande, AZ. The new location is one of many new stores Mattress Firm plans to open throughout the Arizona market in 2015. The landlord, Evergreen Devco was represented by Mark Bramlett of Cassidy Turley.

RETAIL – 9617 N. METRO PKWY. W., PHOENIX, AZ.
Representing Paradise Bakery/Panera Bread, Velocity Retail Group brokered the 10-year lease of 4,000-square-feet at Metro Towne Center on the southwest corner of Peoria Road and 28th Avenue in Phoenix, AZ. The landlord, A & C Properties, was represented by Torrey Briegel of Phoenix Commercial Advisors.

RETAIL – SEC WARNER ROAD & 48th STREET, PHOENIZ, AZ
Andy Kroot of Velocity Retail represented Goodwill Industries of Central Arizona in leasing 2,200-square-feet at the southeast corner of Warner Road and 48th Street in Phoenix, AZ. The landlord was represented by Jennifer Eggert of Zell Commercial Real Estate. The new location will be a donation center.
