Tangerine/I-10 Interchange Work Enters Next Major Phase
MARANA, AZ (May 7, 2026) – Motorists using the Tangerine Road interchange at Interstate 10 should prepare for long-term lane restrictions as the Town of Marana’s Great Tangerine Squeeze project moves into Phase 5.

Beginning Monday, May 18, 2026, Borderland Construction will begin underpass improvement work beneath the Tangerine Interchange bridge. Traffic on Tangerine Road through the underpass will be reduced to one lane eastbound toward Dove Mountain and one lane westbound toward Gladden Farms. Access to I-10 will remain open, but drivers should expect delays, especially during peak commute hours.
The work is part of Phase 5 of the interchange improvement project and includes constructing new abutment lanes beneath the bridge. Construction on the north side is expected to follow, with overall completion anticipated in March 2027.
The westbound I-10 off-ramp at Tangerine Road, Exit 240, will also be reduced to a single left-turn lane beginning May 18 and continuing until March 2027. The Town is advising commuters, particularly those returning home from the Tucson area during evening rush hour, to use alternate routes where possible.
Suggested alternate routes include:
Westbound Tangerine to Gladden Farms area: Exit I-10 at Avra Valley Road, Exit 242, then take Sanders Road to Moore Road and continue to Tangerine Farms Road.
Eastbound Tangerine to Dove Mountain/Oro Valley area: Use Twin Peaks Road, Exit 244, and continue toward the Dove Mountain Boulevard and Tangerine Road intersection.
Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time, obey posted speed limits, and follow traffic control signs while construction crews are working near the roadway.
The Great Tangerine Squeeze is Marana’s public outreach campaign for the Tangerine Road/I-10 interchange improvements, which are intended to improve traffic flow and long-term access in one of the town’s fastest-growing corridors.
