Lynne Birkinbine Hired as Regional Services Specialist at Terracon

TUCSON, Ariz. (August 19, 2025) – Terracon, a consulting engineering firm specializing in environmental, facilities, geotechnical, and materials services, is proud to announce the hiring of Lynne Birkinbine as Regional Services Specialist in the Tucson office.

Birkinbine, who retired from the City of Tucson after 25 years working in environmental compliance, brownfields, public policy, and planning and development, will be in charge of business development for brownfields and environmental compliance in Southern Arizona.

Birkinbine spent 10 years in environmental consulting in Arizona and California, performing environmental planning, assessments, and permitting.

“We’re excited to welcome Lynne to Terracon. With over 30 years of experience in environmental compliance, Brownfields redevelopment, and urban planning, she brings a unique and valuable perspective to our team,” said Derek Koller, Tucson Operations Manager and Senior Principal. “Her passion for sustainable development and extensive knowledge of the Tucson community will be a tremendous asset to our clients and projects.”

A native of Berkeley, California, Birkinbine was raised in Tucson. She earned a BA in history from the University of Arizona. She also holds an MA in international policy studies (environmental policy emphasis) from Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California.

She is a member of the Metropolitan Pima Alliance, CREW Tucson, Pima County Bond Advisory Committee, Urban Land Institute, Southern Arizona Environmental Management Association, Solid Waste Association of North America, and is a past member of the American Planning Association.

Away from the office, Birkinbine enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, and three dogs. She also enjoys gardening and working out. She and her children are actively involved in the Tucson Village Farm, an urban 4-H experience.
