Tucson Leaders Gather to Discuss Moving Downtown Tucson Forward

uli az logoTUCSON, Ariz. – The Urban Land Institute (ULI) of Arizona is bringing together private and public agencies to discuss Moving Downtown Tucson Forward on Wednesday May 7, from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m. followed by a networking reception.  The goal of this event is to uncover and develop methods that can be implemented, based upon suggestions and feedback, on how to further Downtown Tucson and the surrounding areas for future generations.

The event will start with an overview presentation by the National ULI Advisory Service Panel Study that occurred in November 2013, presented by ULI Visiting Panelist John Walsh.

Fletcher McCusker, Chairman of the Rio Nuevo Board, will provide a brief update on how the City of Tucson is proceeding with the November ULI Study recommendations; followed by City of Tucson Mayor, Jonathan Rothschild giving an update on downtown Tucson incentives and where we’ve come in the past 5 years economically.

Art Wadlund of Hendricks-Berkadia will discuss his experience developing in Downtown Tucson with a case study of One East Broadway, the latest mixed-use mid-rise building completed downtown in November 2013.

The event will conclude with a panel discussion by nine top stakeholders pushing to move Downtown Tucson forward followed by an open Q & A session.
