(June 14, 2023) - Governor Hobbs and the Arizona Department of Water Resources released the Phoenix Active Management Area (AMA) report and national media coverage focused on construction limits surrounding Arizona's water supply, creating uncertainty nationwide. The Greater Phoenix Economic Council would like to clear up some of the confusion surrounding this decision.

Here are the facts:

  • Greater Phoenix is NOT halting housing development.
  • The announcement DOES NOT impact commercial or industrial development.
  • It DOES NOT affect existing homeowners or businesses.
  • There has been a temporary halt on CAWS for new subdivided developments reliant on groundwater.

Additional details can be found in this document.

"Arizona’s water future is secure. Our economy will continue to grow and thrive sustainably. Our economic strength is only further solidified by the proactive strategies securing our water future," Chris Camacho, President & CEO pf Greater Phoenix Economic Council reassures people.
