PIMA COUNTY, (June 20, 2024) – The Pima County Board of Supervisors at its June 18 meeting voted 4-to-0 to approve $400,000 for Outside Agency Funding for the 2024/2025 fiscal year.
The budget approves funding for 22 organizations to assist with programming, events, and exhibits. Organizations receiving funding through the Attractions & Tourism Department’s Outside Agency Funding include Tucson Presidio Trust, which operates The Presidio Museum, and the Tucson City of Gastronomy for their Pueblos del Maiz Fiesta, a culinary festival celebrating the cultural and culinary impact of maíz. Tucson Jazz Festival and the Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona will also receive funding in addition to many other organizations.
“The goal of this funding is to make Pima County a premier destination,” said Diane Frisch, Director, Attractions & Tourism. “The organizations we partner with share that mission and work tirelessly to ensure everyone who lives in or visits Pima County is able to find an event or attraction that interests them.”
Outside Agency Funding recipients are recommended by the Outside Agency Citizen Review Committee, a six-member panel appointed by the Board of Supervisors and County administration. Outside agencies are able to make presentations, including budgets and contract obligations, to the Citizen Review Committee, who then make recommendations to the Attractions & Tourism Department.
