Phoenix, Ariz. (Sept. 18, 2024)—On September 13, 2024, Southwest Gas provided notice that its Gas Cost Balancing Account (GCBA) rate will decrease from $0.30911 per therm to $0.00 per therm beginning October 1, 2024. According to the Company, this new GCBA rate will decrease the monthly cost for the average single-family residential customer by approximately $7.

“I am pleased that pursuant to Commission Decisions Nos. 74595 and 79038, Southwest Gas customers will experience some bill relief starting this October and into the winter season,” stated Commissioner Nick Myers.

A recent report found that Arizona has the second lowest energy costs in the entire country when taking into account monthly electric, natural gas, motor fuel, and home heating oil costs. “Arizona energy has become the second cheapest in the nation. This is a great achievement!” commented Commissioner Myers. “This bill decrease edges us even closer to having the lowest energy costs in the country.”
