MESA, Ariz. (Jan. 27, 2026) – It’s a grand slam for the home team: Phoenix-based CCBG Architects is proud to serve as the local architect of record for the Chicago Cubs Training Facility – Clubhouse Expansion and Technology Lab at Sloan Park.
The team’s spring training home, located at 2510 W. Rio Salado Parkway in Mesa, recently completed a construction project to enhance its player-development environment with new
training, technology, and support spaces designed to elevate performance and operational efficiency.
The expansion includes a 6,400 SF addition to the main clubhouse building, with a female staff locker room, umpire locker room, and a multi-use open office and meeting area to support the growing needs of the organization.
Complementing the addition is a new 18,000 SF stand-alone building that houses pitching and hitting tunnels, a video analysis room, and a suite of support spaces designed to integrate advanced training technologies. The facility is scheduled to open at the same time as pitchers and catchers report to the 2026 Spring Training camp on Feb. 11.

Sloan Park opened in 2014 as a state-of-the-art complex replacing Hohokam Stadium and quickly became the largest spring training venue in Major League Baseball, with a capacity of 15,000. Designed to echo the character of Wrigley Field, the facility attracts record crowds each spring and serves as a year-round community asset. The project is owned by the City of Mesa and the Chicago Cubs.
The lead architect is Populous, with Mortenson serving as general contractor.
The full squad is expected to report for its first workout on Feb. 16, with the team's first Cactus League game vs. the White Sox on Feb. 20 at Sloan Park.
