PIMA COUNTY, ARIZONA – All those parties postponed during the pandemic are coming back in a big way at Pima Animal Care Center with a “Howling at the Moon” event running from 5 to 10 p.m. May 13.
The free event will feature vendors, food trucks, a bouncy castle and activities in different rooms at PACC, each decorated in a different holiday theme for the “party” that was skipped during the pandemic. Food and merchandise is available for purchase.
Monica Dangler, Director of Animal Services, said this has been a long time coming.
“PACC has missed being able to hold those seasonal adoption events over the last two years, so we are ready to celebrate them all in one night,” Dangler said.
The shelter staff will be decorating each section of the shelter in a different holiday theme.
All pets at the shelter will have $0 adoption fees during the “Postponed Parties.” (A $20 licensing fee may apply.) Adopted pets will go home with a surprise holiday-themed pet toy.
“We know how much the public loves these evening events, so we are happy to be bringing them back,” Dangler said. Current pet owners can get in on the fun, too. PACC’s licensing partner, Docupet, will offer a 13% discount on one tag per order May 13-16 with code “HOWL13.”
People who can’t attend the event, foster or adopt can always make a financial donation to the shelter’s official nonprofit partner, Friends of Pima Animal Care Center.
Pima Animal Care Center is located at 4000 North Silverbell Rd. The shelter is open Monday to Friday, noon to 7 p.m., and 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Every pet comes with up-to-date medical care, a microchip, current vaccinations, and a free spay or neuter surgery. There are currently 650 pets at the shelter in need of homes, along with 1,124 in foster care in need of adoptive homes.
