PIMA COUNTY, (Jan. 8, 2025) – Pet lovers seeking fun, food, and maybe even a new best friend are invited to Pima Animal Care Center’s third-annual “Bark in the Barrio” dog adoption event this Saturday, Jan. 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Armory Park, 220 S. 5th Avenue.
This all-ages event promises something to do for all attendees, both two- and four-legged. Local food trucks Cody Coyote Kettle Corn, Eggroll Masters, and Tucson Coffee Cart will be on-site, as will multiple pet-themed vendors selling their wares. Local Cumulus stations 97.5 The Vibe, KIIM FM 99.5, and KHIT 107.5 will also be at the event playing tunes and hosting giveaways, and the staff at Armory Park are hosting a doggy craft station and a dog photo booth.
The event's goal is to find homes for some of the many Pima County pets in need. PACC staff will load up the PACCmobile, their mobile adoption vehicle, with adoptable dogs and puppies from the shelter. Dogs from the shelter’s foster program will also attend, hoping to sniff out their forever homes.
In addition, PACC staff are excited to partner with several local shelters and rescues, who will also have adoptable dogs at the event. The partners attending include:
- The Humane Society of Southern Arizona
- Cherished Tails Senior Sanctuary
- Tucson Central Nursery Animal Rescue
- The Animal League of Green Valley
- Baby Animal Rescue Koalition (BARK) and
- AZ Rescue Life
“These events are great ways to both build community and to spread the word about the need for animals to find caring forever homes where they can thrive and show their true personalities,” said Steve Kozachik, PACC’s interim director. “We’re grateful to everyone who comes out and supports the life-saving work done by both PACC and by our rescue partners.”
All PACC dogs and puppies will be free to adopt during the event. A $20 licensing fee applies to adult dogs. All pets attending the event will be spayed/neutered, given age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped.
