TUCSON, ARIZONA -- Gary Heinfeld, CCIM, CPA and Designated Broker of Advisors in Real Estate of Tucson rode in El Tour de Tucson for Easter Seals Blake Foundation. This its 34nd year, El Tour was sponsored by Casino Del Sol and brought in more than 8,500 riders and 35,000 spectators for this year's event.
Heinfeld rode this year for the Primary Beneficiary, Easter Seals Blake Foundation, in the 106-mile El Tour de Tucson.
“Individuals and companies were very generous and I was able to raise $12,295, which made me the top fundraiser for Easter Seals. Even though I've only been biking for about four years, I have now completed my 3rd El Tour. The training and 106 miles was not easy, but when you're raising money for such a worthwhile cause it keeps you going,” Heinfeld said in an email statement.
It is expected that cyclists in El Tour this year raised more than $16 million for the various non-profit organizations. This year’s primary beneficiary was Easter Seals, one of over 50 supported beneficiaries.
El Tour also has a significant impact on the Tucson economy, as hotels, restaurants fill up every year for this weekend before Thanksgiving. El Tour’s overall economic impact on ride week alone is estimated to be $16 to $20 Million.
