TUCSON, Ariz. (February 11, 2026) — On February 9, the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and Casino Del Sol hosted a first look inside their newest property, Casino Del Sol - Vahi Taa’am, followed by a dome lighting reception at the Grant Road site. The evening marked a major milestone for the project, with structural construction completed and the casino’s iconic dome illuminated for the first time.

“Vahi Taa’am” (pronounced vah-hee tah-ahm) means “Three Suns” in Yoeme, the language of the Pascua Yaqui people. The name honors the Tribe’s third casino property—joining Casino Del Sol and Casino of the Sun—and symbolizes light, renewal, and a bright future for the community.

The afternoon program included an interior preview, during which select guests viewed the developing layout of the gaming floor, high-limit room, main entrances, executive offices, and the casino’s signature restaurant, OP Grill—short for Old Pascua—named for the land trust where the project is being built. Tribal leaders noted the site’s cultural significance and the role of the Old Pascua Community Land Acquisition Act, which enabled the Tribe to take the land into trust for long-term community benefit.

The reception brought together Tribal leadership, project partners—including McCarthy Building Companies and YESCO, which constructed the dome and its interior lighting—and community stakeholders to recognize the collaboration advancing the development.

“Lighting the dome is more than a construction milestone—it’s a powerful symbol of what Vahi Taa’am represents: light, momentum, and a future we’re building together,” said Amanda Lomayesva, interim CEO of Casino Del Sol.

Set to open November 11, the property will feature a 52,334-square-foot gaming floor, 928 slot machines, 21 table games, multiple dining options, and a multi-level parking garage. The development is expected to create about 500 jobs in the region, according to project representatives.

The evening concluded with fireworks visible from the Old Pascua community, punctuating the dome’s first illumination.
