Tucson, AZ (August 1, 2024)-In announcing its 53rd season, the Invisible Theatre marks a new chapter in its storied history with the appointment of Betsy Kruse Craig as the new Artistic Director. The 2024-25 season promises an exciting lineup of productions that continue to celebrate the innovative spirit and artistic excellence for which Invisible Theatre is known.
Betsy Kruse Craig, a distinguished director and performer with a rich background in the arts, steps into the role with a vision to build upon the theatre's legacy while introducing fresh, dynamic programming. Her extensive experience and passion for the performing arts make her an ideal leader for Invisible Theatre as it enters this new era.
Betsy expressed her excitement about her new role, stating, "I am deeply honored to follow in the footsteps of outgoing Managing Artistic Director Susan Claassen, whose impact on this theatre and the community is immeasurable. I look forward to working with the talented team here to continue delivering powerful and meaningful theatre experiences."
In conjunction with the season launch, Invisible Theatre will host a special event -“High ITea” on October 20, 2024, to honor Claassen for her extraordinary contributions over the past decades. She has been a cornerstone of Invisible Theatre, guiding it with remarkable dedication and creativity for almost 50 years. The event will feature performances, tributes, and a celebration of her remarkable career.

Sept 1-15 - Birds of North America by Anna Ouyang Moench directed by Gretchen Wirges - A touching exploration of the complexities of family dynamics: a father and daughter navigate their relationship over backyard birding.
Nov 10-24 -Almost, Maine by John Cariani directed by Nancy Davis Booth - A whimsical collection of vignettes about love and loss set in a remote, mythical town.
Dec 12-15 - Aren’t You..? by Fred Pitts - A compelling one-man show that delves into themes of identity and cultural heritage.
Jan 19-Feb 2 - What the Constitution Means to Me by Heidi Schrek directed by Carrie Cole - A critically acclaimed piece that reimagines how the U.S. Constitution shapes our lives.
March 8-9 - Tevye in New York Written and performed by Tom Dugan. Berger Performing Arts Center - A continuation of the beloved character Tevye’s story as he navigates life in America.
March 22-23 - Winston Churchill: Man of The Century written and performed by Randy Otto. Berger Performing Arts Center - From birth to death and beyond. . .a biographic masterpiece. Randy Otto brings Churchill to life in a tour-de-force performance.
April 22 – May 4 - The Garbologists by Lindsay Joelle directed by Betsy Kruse Craig - A unique and heartwarming story about the unlikely friendship between two sanitation workers.
May 28-June 8 - Going It Alone A collection of monologues by local playwrights celebrating the unique challenge of writing for a solo performer and performing solo! Hopscotch to Infinity by Alejandro Canelos, directed by Betsy Kruse Craig
Relive schooldays through the “peeps” at Plinkett Elementary, who delight in magical powers, holidays, and whether stepping on a crack will break your mother’s back. Through a series of vignettes that are funny, ironic, and poignant, Hopscotch to Infinity captures the exuberance of growing up. Appropriate for Second grade through adulthood.

THE INVISIBLE THEATRE
Founded in 1971, the Invisible Theatre (IT) of Tucson, a 501(c)(3) organization, is dedicated to producing quality theatre and arts education experiences for all facets of the community in an intimate setting that showcases local professional talent and guest artists who came together to explore the human experience through the performing arts. It remains a vital part of Tucson's cultural landscape, offering a space where artists and audiences can come together to explore the human experience through the performing arts.
IT takes its name from the invisible energy that flows between a performer and audience, creating the magic of theatre. Started in 1971 as an arena for local playwrights, the theatre has expanded its programs to include adaptations of classics and recent Off-Broadway plays and musicals, while continuing to encourage new playwrights through both full productions and staged readings.
