Mountainside Fitness

TUCSON, AZ (January 14, 2026) — Mountainside Fitness, a longtime Arizona-based fitness brand, announced it is expanding into Tucson and Southern Arizona, bringing its “strong, welcoming fitness communities” concept to the region.

“Tucson, we’re coming your way!” the company says in a message posted to its website. “As a proud Arizona brand, Mountainside Fitness has been building strong, welcoming fitness communities across the Phoenix Valley for over 35 years, and now we’re excited to bring that same local spirit to Tucson and Southern Arizona.”

Mountainside Fitness said it will share updates as the expansion progresses, including progress reports, behind-the-scenes content, and opportunities for the community to get involved early.

“Stay connected for updates, behind-the-scenes progress, and ways to be part of our growing community from day one,” the company added.

Additional details—including specific site locations, opening timelines, and membership information—were not included in the announcement, but Phoenix Business Journal reported to expect three locations in Oro Valley, Vail and Marana, with an opportunity to add a fourth fitness center in the Tucson market.  Each location will employ between 100 and 120 people this year.

The fitness center at Oro Valley Marketplace, at the southwest corner of Oracle and Tangerine, will occupy a 45,000-square-foot building formerly occupied by Ashley Furniture.

For the other two — Houghton Towne Center in Vail and a new retail center at the northeast corner of Twin Peaks Road and Interstate 10 in Marana — new 40,000-square-foot standalone buildings will be constructed.

Total development costs for each location will range from $11 million to $12 million, for a total of $33 million.

Mountainside Fitness is an Arizona-based fitness club operator founded in 1991, that has built fitness communities across the Phoenix Valley for more than 35 years and is now expanding into Tucson and Southern Arizona. The company operates 22 Phoenix fitness centers and plans further expansion with a 23rd location at Morrison Ranch in Gilbert breaking ground.
