Trend Report

TUCSON, Ariz. (October 27, 2025) — The November issue of Trend Report is out now, featuring “The Infrastructure Imperative: Building for Permanence, Not Convenience.” This month’s edition examines how Southern Arizona’s economic future hinges on what lies beneath our feet — the systems of power, water, transportation, and broadband that make growth possible.

“Infrastructure is more than a line item in a capital plan; it’s the invisible architecture that makes everything else possible,” writes Managing Editor, Karen Schutte in her editorial introduction. From the Southline Transmission Project and Beale Infrastructure’s next-generation data campus to Tucson Water and CAP’s long-range strategies, the November issue takes readers beneath the surface to explore how infrastructure shapes the region’s resilience and competitiveness.

As Tony Burkhart, Senior Vice President of Policy & Public Affairs for Beale Infrastructure, puts it:

“Infrastructure isn’t just an enabler—it’s an equalizer.”

That theme runs throughout the issue, connecting regional initiatives like RTA Next and Pima Prospers 2025, as well as critical water and workforce investments, that define how Southern Arizona grows, competes, and collaborates in a rapidly changing Southwest.

Contributors include Dr. Sharon B. Megdal, John Buette, Scott Schladweiler, Ana Bustamante, Will White, Danette Bewley, Jose Dabdoub, Kate Glantz, Herb Stratford, Lily Surmay, and David Danelski, each bringing fresh insight into the intersection of infrastructure, policy, and prosperity.

“As we close 2025,” the Editor notes, “the horizon ahead is defined by choice — whether Southern Arizona builds for permanence or convenience, whether we simply keep pace with growth or design systems strong enough to sustain it.”

Next month, the December issue theme will be “Pivot to 2026: What’s Next?”, will explore forward-looking strategies, predictions, and opportunities we've learned from this year as Arizona heads into a new year of transformation.
