Oro Valley, AZ – The Town of Oro Valley is accepting applications from residents who are interested in serving on a board or commission. To serve on a board or commission, members must be residents of the Town of Oro Valley, be available to attend the designated meetings and be committed to the completion of the Town’s Community Academy within their term.
Historic Preservation Commission
The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) has one (1) open position that serves a three-year term. HPC was formed to promote the educational, cultural and economic welfare of Oro Valley by ensuring the preservation of historic buildings, districts, landmarks, structures, documents, photographs and other artifacts that represent the historic background and development of the greater Oro Valley area. HPC meets the first Monday of every month at 5 p.m. at Town Hall, 11000 N. La Cañada Drive.
Water Utility Commission
The Water Utility Commission (WUC) has three (3) open positions. For two (2) of the vacancies, the applicants will need to reside within in the Town of Oro Valley and also be a customer of Oro Valley Water Utility. One is a full, three-year term, and the other is a one-year appointment to fill a vacancy for the remainder of a term. The Town is also seeking one (1) representative for the Countryside area to serve a three-year term. This position requires applicants to be a resident of the Countryside Water Service Area and a customer of Oro Valley Water Utility. WUC comprises seven members who advise the Town Council on issues relating to water, including water policies, water rates, water conservation and water resources. WUC meets the second Monday of every month at 6 p.m. at Town Hall, 11000 N. La Cañada Drive.
Planning and Zoning Commission
The Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC) has one (1) open position that serves a two-year term. PZC holds public meetings and makes recommendations to the Town Council on matters relating to the General Plan, zoning code amendments, rezonings and other land use requests. PZC meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. at Town Hall, 11000 N. La Cañada Drive.
Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) has one (1) open position that serves a two-year term. PRAB acts in an advisory capacity to the Town Council in matters pertaining to parks and recreation, park design, open space and trail use. PRAB meets at least six times per year at 5:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 11000 N. La Cañada Drive.
Stormwater Utility Commission
The Stormwater Utility Commission (SWUC) has one (1) open position that serves a two-year term. SWUC makes recommendations to the Town Council on issues relating to flood control and stormwater quality management and the issuance of bonds for stormwater activities and prescribes service charges. SWUC meets on the third Thursday of the month at 4 p.m. at Town Hall, 11000 N. La Cañada Drive.
Tucson-Pima County Bicycle Advisory Committee
The Town of Oro Valley has one (1) open position that serves a two-year term as a representative to the Tucson-Pima County Bicycle Advisory Committee (T-PCBAC). T-PBAC acts as the official advisory body on bicycling matters to Pima County and the City of Tucson. T-PCBAC meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. All meetings are held at Himmel Park Library in Tucson, 1035 N. Treat Ave.
Pima County Bond Advisory Committee
The Town of Oro Valley has one (1) open position that serves a six-year term as a representative to the Pima County Bond Advisory Committee (PCBAC). PCBAC oversees implementation of voter-approved bond programs. PCBAC meets at a public meeting at least twice a year to review and approve status reports on the bond programs and consider any substantial changes.
