PIMA COUNTY (April 21, 2026) -- The Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) and the Arizona-Mexico Commission (AMC) held a Binational Economic Development meeting on April 9, 2026, highlighting ongoing efforts by statewide partners, including Pima County, to advance foreign direct investment and strengthen supply chain integration between Arizona and Mexico.
As part of the program, Pima County Economic Development shared details of its ongoing collaboration with the Mexican state of Baja California. This partnership includes development of a capabilities portfolio program designed to connect businesses in Pima County with companies in Baja California — and vice versa — creating new pathways for cross-border manufacturing partnerships, supplier matching, and stronger regional supply chain alignment.
By strengthening buyer-supplier relationships, these efforts improve the competitiveness, resilience, and overall economic output of local businesses in both regions. The initiative also supports broader goals of nearshoring, trade expansion, and cross-border economic cooperation at a time when manufacturers and suppliers are increasingly seeking reliable partners closer to home. Pima County is proud to have the first Arizona-based companies registered in the program and continues to play a leading role in its expansion.
Looking ahead, Pima County remains committed to advancing additional business-to-business and government-to-government initiatives that foster long-term economic growth and drive foreign direct investment in key industries that benefit both Pima County and Baja California. County leaders say the work reflects a broader strategy to strengthen Southern Arizona’s position in international trade, advanced manufacturing, and binational economic development.
