TUCSON, AZ – (August 23, 2023) -  The Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA) hosts nationally-recognized guest speaker, Jon Grobman, at its upcoming Impact Luncheon on September 9, 2023 from 11 AM – 12:30 PM. The event is open to the public and tickets can be purchased at https://hssaz.org/event/annual-impact-luncheon-featuring-jon-grobman or by emailing [email protected].

Jon Grobman is the Chief Operating Officer of Paws for Life K9 Rescue. In his role as COO, Jon oversees dog training programs inside several California State Prisons. As someone who was formerly incarcerated, Jon is on a mission to support meaningful rehabilitative programming for incarcerated individuals because working with dogs provided an extraordinary path to Jon’s own transformation. He is a fascinating presenter and his story is powerful.

HSSA’s Impact Luncheon on September 9, 2023 includes a chance to meet Jon Grobman, a delicious catered lunch from the Charro Group of restaurants, a panel discussion with Jon and HSSA staff members who were formerly incarcerated, as well as an introduction to and tour of HSSA’s new Freeman Education and Behavioral Center. The Impact Lunch highlights HSSA’s programs aimed at addressing real community issues through rehabilitation and community service – for people and pets.

The Impact Lunch specifically celebrates the New Beginnings Program at HSSA which offers incarcerated people within the Arizona Department of Corrections the opportunity to interact with and train dogs with difficult behavioral issues. This program serves both the incarcerated individual and the animal  where both sides learn self-confidence, self-worth, and life skills for life on the outside --leading to increased adoptability of shelter dogs and rehabilitation of DOC crew members.

The community is invited to support HSSA’s programs by attending the Impact Lunch in the new Freeman Education and Behavioral Center, located on HSSA’s Main Campus at 635 W Roger Road in Tucson. To purchase tickets or to learn more, please email [email protected].
