TUCSON, ARIZONA – Portillo’s new location will be located at Tucson’s El Con Center, the high-traffic retail center located at E. Broadway Blvd and N. Dodge Blvd and home to major retailers including Target, Walmart, Home Depot and more.
El Con Por Tillos, a developer, purchased the former Claim Jumper restaurant at 3761 E Broadway for its entry into Tucson. The existing 15,000 square-foot restaurant will be razed for Portillo’s vintage diner theme, a 7,800 square-foot restaurant featuring a double drive-thru lane.
“To accommodate the incredible institutions that call the region home, such as the University of Arizona and Davis Monthan Air Force Base,” Portillo’s said in a press release.
The asset sold for $1.6 million, or $21.24 PSF, for the 1.71-acre pad. The developer will then ground lease the restaurant to Portillo’s.
Known for its famous Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, chopped salad, cheese fries, homemade chocolate cake, and chocolate cake shake. Portillo’s Italian beef is slow roasted for four hours, thinly sliced, and served on freshly baked French bread. Then, it's dipped in hot gravy made with a homemade blend of seasonings that has been perfecting for 50 years. Anyone from the Midwest already knows Portillo’s.
New to Portillo’s? Order the Italian beef, dipped with sweet or hot peppers (add mozzarella if you're feeling cheesy), or a Chicago-style hot dog "dragged through the garden" and you'll see what all the hype is about.
