Northwest Healthcare to Serve as Presenting Sponsor
SAHUARITA, ARIZONA – Rancho Sahuarita will host its second “Rancho Sahuarita Cancer Walk” event on Saturday, March 30, 2019 to benefit the efforts of the National Brain Tumor Society through the Sharpe/NBTS Brain Cancer Research Awards. The walk will take place within the award-winning master planned community, around Sahuarita Lake, (located at 15466 S. Rancho Sahuarita Blvd. in Sahuarita, Arizona.) Northwest Healthcare, which is building an acute care facility in the Sahuarita Town Center within the community, will serve as the presenting sponsor for the event.
Brain tumors can strike adults and children of all races at any time of their lives, and are often deadly. Currently, there is no cure for this devastating condition. Rancho Sahuarita has been a long-time supporter of the National Brain Tumor Society, and raised over $365,000 through the efforts of its inaugural walk event back in March of 2017.
Thanks to the generosity of over 800 attendees and countless other sponsors and supporters, 100% of those proceeds went directly to funding brain cancer research at 10 of the leading brain cancer centers in the nation, (including UCSD, UCSF, UCLA, Duke, John Wayne Cancer Institute, MD Anderson, Penn, Dana Farber, Memorial Sloane Kettering, and Mayo Rochester.)
To build upon 2017’s success, and to continue to support innovative brain cancer research, in 2018, these same 10 investigative teams submitted their best ideas to find a cure for brain cancer and $175,000 in awards has already been granted.
For the 2019 Walk, Rancho Sahuarita hopes to raise a goal amount of $300,000, to continue to fund the Sharpe/NBTS Brain Cancer Research Awards. The same 10 leading brain cancer centers will submit projects which “Scientifically target innovative therapies for Glioblastoma to significantly and measurably improve GBM survival rates and accelerate the development of new ground-breaking molecular approaches to more effectively treat Glioblastoma.”
The day of the 2019 walk, members of the community and the surrounding region are invited to attend, participate and pledge their support for this important cause.
On the day of the walk, registration will begin at 8:00 a.m., following by commencement of the walk at 9:00 a.m. Select family entertainment, music and food will also be present at the event. The registration cost is $25 for adults, (and includes a t-shirt), and children under 18 can participate for free.
