TUCSON, AZ-- The Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) presented its 2014 National Most Promising Engineer of the Year award to Raytheon Company's (NYSE: RTN) Carla Sayan at the SHPE conference in Detroit Michigan this year. The award recognizes teh Raytheon Engineer, Sayan for her many outstanding technical accomplishments at Raytheon Missile Systems.
The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1974 by a group of engineers employed by the city of Los Angeles. Their objective was to form a national organization of professional engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic community. SHPE changes lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support and development. SHPE's vision is a world where Hispanics are highly valued and influential as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematicians and engineers.
Sayan joined Raytheon in 2008 and has worked on several critical initiatives and applications in next-generation information systems such as model-based engineering solutions and cyber-technology.

In addition to her accomplishments in Engineering and Technology, Sayan has demonstrated a strong commitment to making improvements in her community. She has been an active volunteer and mentor regularly sharing her knowledge both inside the company and in the community.
