The holiday season is just around the corner and that means special deals and sales at almost every store imaginable. Since stores open their doors earlier and earlier each year, our latest survey asks when, where, and how people are most likely to shop over the Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekend.
With the goal to gather information that could anticipate consumer shopping behavior during the busy holiday season, our study focused on preferred days to shop (Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday) and the use of smartphones to support brick and mortar buying.
Some Key Findings:
-- 57% of millennials want to shop in-store on Thanksgiving Day, but 61% of other shoppers say they'd rather stay at home.
-- 51% of shoppers over the age of 35 “hate” or are “annoyed” that stores are open their doors on Thanksgiving Day.
-- If over 35, holiday shopping will most likely take place after Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday. On Black Friday, 56% prefer to stay home.
-- 75% of total shoppers use a mobile device to help them shop smarter and save during the holiday season.
-- Comparing prices, finding deals, and getting coupons are the most popular smartphone uses while holiday shopping.
