TUCSON, AZ (April 22, 2026) — Pima County Supervisor Matt Heinz is seeking applicants to fill one vacancy on the Pima County Commission on Trial Court Appointments for a resident of District 2.
Applicants must be registered voters in Pima County District 2 and must have lived in the district for at least one year. They must also have been Arizona residents for at least five years and disclose the political party in which they are registered. Attorneys, elected government officials, and appointed officials who are paid by the government are not eligible to serve.
The selected applicant will join the 16-member commission, chaired by the Chief Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court. The commission includes five attorney members and 10 non-attorney members, with two non-attorney members representing each Pima County supervisor district. Its role is to review applications for vacancies on the Pima County Superior Court.
For each judicial opening, the commission submits the names of three qualified candidates to the governor, who then appoints one to serve as a Pima County Superior Court judge.
Applicants should submit a one-page letter of interest stating their voter registration party affiliation — or No Preference or Independent status — along with a brief resume. Materials must be received by May 17, 2026, and sent to [email protected].
Residents who are unsure whether they live in District 2 may contact Supervisor Heinz’s office at 520-724-2702.
